Thank goodness for friends!

Thank goodness for friends, right? One of my friends (LA's mom) just came & picked up my girls to take them to playgroup. Yea! This way I can relax better and not feel guilty for completely ignoring them. I have to say that I am really proud of both of them though. They have been soooo good! I don't know how many times Gracie has asked me, "Do you need anything?" and Katie sat there and kissed my knee over & over this morning (I wouldn't let her kiss near my face) and she has offered all sorts of 'cure-alls,' such as water & soup. Apparently those will make me feel better.

When my friend called this morning and asked if I wanted her to come get the girls, I happily said yes! She even took my van so we wouldn't have to switch over Katie's carseat...something I hate to do! She even had an old booster that her almost 12 year old used to use since when I went to the van I noticed that Chris had taken Gracie's booster seat to work with him!

So today I can relax. Yesterday, Chris kept them very busy since he was off for the holiday. He took them to the gym with him which they like because there's a big playroom, then they ran some errands, then last night they went to a 4th of July celebration and brought me home some really good food from that party!

I couldn't sleep last night. I bet it was around 3:00 before I fell asleep. I started trying around 9:30 then I watched a movie and still couldn't sleep so I got on the computer. By that time, my head was killing me! It felt like someone had banged it in with a hammer. It still felt like that this morning. I don't know if it's from all the time I've spent laying down-the angle maybe-or from the meds or just from the shingles themselves.

Yesterday morning and this morning I woke up with a right eye that is swollen so much it's almost swollen shut! Throughout the day yesterday the swelling went down so I'm sure it has something to do with laying on that side and how the shingles is messing with that side anyway.

So far this morning the pain from the actual shingles seems to be okay. Last night it had kind of gotten bad...just shooting pain every now & then...but still nowhere near as bad as what my grandmother had when she had shingles awhile back. She said she was in such misery that her doctor had to give her morphine! Yikes! Let's hope mine doesn't get that bad, but they do say it's worse when you're older.

But, enough of complaining, right? I'm blessed with a wonderful husband who has been taking great care of me, sweet girls who have been a little bored but so patient and full of concern for me, a great friend who took my kids to playgroup with her, a great friend who brought me some of her books to read, her husband who offered to lend me some of their movies, other friends who have emailed or called to check on me. I am blessed and this too shall pass......

So sorry you have had to deal with shingles. I have heard terrible things about it. Sounds like you have a great partner in the trenches with you always! Chris reminds me so much of Darren....he will do anything for me and my girls. Keep us posted and feel better soon.

I am sorry you are sick! Praying for you!

I do remember Alethea Martin! We had some classes together and dated a guy I dated, not the bad one. I can't remember if that was Tyler Sparks or Dave Lyles. Everything kind of runs together in my head now, getting old I guess! Anyhoo... small world. I am sure we did run into each other at one point or another. Craziness this blog world thing!

I am so sorry. I know people who have had shingles and it is miserable. My sister-in-law had them when she was pregnant so she could not take the good medicine. I truly hope that you are better soon.
