This year, Gracie was involved in a great after school program called "Read, Deed, Run." Mrs. Shah, her 3rd grade teacher, was the lead sponsor for it.
The culminating goal was that in the time span allowed (basically late August - late May) they would read 26 books (or 2600 pages), do 26 good deeds, and run 26 miles, with a culminating 1 mile run at the end. They would do half of the deeds and run half of the miles on Tuesdays when they stayed after school. The other half, and all of the reading, they were responsible for doing on their own. It was a great program in that it encouraged reading, service to others, and exercise.
Here are some pictures from the culminating run from a couple of Saturdays ago.
Gracie & one of her sweet running buddies
with Mrs. Shah...we love her!
Here she comes!!!!
Ms. M was one of the teachers who helped after school on Tuesdays, so she came to the culminating run to offer her encouragement. Katie was happy to see her, and Ellie was too. She just loves Ms. M!
snack time after the run
getting her award for finishing
most of the group. It was made up of only 4th & 5th graders.
Mrs. Shah, Ms. D, and Ms. W...the fabulous sponsors!
When we got home, Chris wanted to take a picture with the big girls. Guess who else wanted HER picture taken?! :)

This is like a repeat of what they do at Williams Elemtary Katy, Texas. But a very cool club.
