Animal Kingdom/Hollywood Studio
This morning was an early start because we had a character meal at 9:05 at Tusker House in Animal Kingdom.
The park didn't officially open until 9:00, but if you had a reservation at the restaurant, they let you in early.
Tusker House is in "Africa" and was a really neat setting. The building was really neat, and the food was very, very good! This was Chris' favorite character meal. Of course, he's partial to breakfast food. It really was good food! The characters were "safari" Donald, Mickey, Daisy, & Goofy.
mini Mickey waffles!!!!!!!
When we came out of Tusker House, we saw what a sky writer had been writing. I believe this one said, "Trust Jesus." We saw more writing during the day.
During breakfast, Chris ran over to get fast passes for "Kilimanjaro Safaris." That was a really neat attraction. A bit bumpy, and a cheesy guide, but it was fun to bump along through the safari!
Cool tree in Animal Kingdom with all sorts of animals carved into it. Not a real tree I don't think, but still cool looking.
Gracie, Katie, & I rode "Kali River Rapids" while Chris & Ellie watched "It's Tough to be a Bug." He said that show was good. The ride was just so-so. We seemed to wait a lot longer than the sign indicated (which rarely happened), and then the ride seemed to be over before it started. I was disappointed in that one. I told Chris I didn't think it was really worth the wait unless he could get a rider swap which we had forgotten to get when I originally rode it, so he decided to forego it.
"Festival of the Lion King" was a really neat show that we all enjoyed.
"Expedition Everest" was a roller coaster that Chris & Katie rode first and thoroughly enjoyed. I rode it next with Katie. She, again, loved it and laughed her way through it. It scared me! Backwards. in the dark. *shudder* but I did it! Gracie was happy to sit in the shade and wait for us!
At this point, we were ready to leave Animal Kingdom. (It wasn't our favorite.) We wanted to see the "Finding Nemo" musical, but the next show wasn't for another 2 hours, so we decided to go ahead and leave for another park. (We were so happy that we splurged for the 'park hopper' option!)
We headed to Hollywood Studios and enjoyed lunch at Pizza Planet. Andy's favorite restaurant from Toy Story! :)
Chris, Gracie, & Katie rode "Star Tours," then I used our rider swap to ride it with the girls, too. That was a fun ride! While I rode with Gracie & Katie, Chris & Ellie walked over to save us seats for "Beauty and the Beast." I had wanted to see it the first time we came to Hollywood Studios and missed it, so I was looking forward to seeing it this time. It was a great show!
After the show, we were all about to wilt. Partly due to how tired we were at the end of the week and partly because of the heat. It was hot! The girls got ice cream while Chris & I enjoyed lemonade. At that point, we decided to head back to the hotel to swim and relax a little. We went back and rested for a bit then headed to the pool and got some dinner which we ate outside. Sitting in the shade by the pool after being in it, the weather was much nicer!
We packed up some of our stuff that night since our time at Disney was quickly coming to an end. :( However, we weren't done with the fun yet!
Day 6 coming......
