The advertising is getting to me!!!!!

Here's a sweet picture of Gracie in the birthday dress she got from Uncle Josh, Aunt Beth, Ann Elise & Morgan along with a matching one for her "American Girl" doll. Too cute!
American Girl is in quotes because it's actually a "Target" doll that looks just like the AG ones (except the AG hair is much nicer) and it cost about $70 LESS! (Seriously, $30 compared to $100!) I have to admit that I'm feeling the itch to get her a real AG doll for Christmas. This is so not like me because I am quite "frugal." Someone talk me out of it and tell me that the Target ones (she has 2!) are just as good!!!!! Deep in my heart I know it but the catalog gets to me and Gracie's started reading the books........help!!!!!!!

I caved to the AG catalog last year so I am not a good one to ask...call me a marketing sucker...Have bitty baby and a AG today doll for daughter. I will say the quality seems nice, but it did hurt to buy them!

That is precious. I was just in Dillards last night and saw the cutest matching smocked dresses for girlies and their dolls. Too high of a tag for me but precious. I look so forward to those times with Olivia! BTW, Happy Anniversary. Hope you all had a lovely day!

This isn't going to be the answer you want, but it is a story from my childhood -- I wanted a Cabbage Patch doll so badly, but my parents wouldn't buy me one - too expensive. My grandma made me a fake one for Christmas and I never liked it. I always wanted the real deal. Of course, it didn't look a whole lot like the real one, so if this doll really looks just like the real one, you might be able to get away with it.

JBelle's grandmother started the AG dolls with JBelle's older cousins. JBelle got a Bitty Baby years & years ago. I thought she was supposed to get her big girl AG doll for her 7th birthday but it didn't happen. She's really outgrowing the Bitty Baby. But I'm not sure if I can say anything to my MiL about it, you know? I'm not going to pony up $100 for a doll but JBelle keeps talking about the one she wants. I keep telling her she needs to tell Nana which one she's wanting (maybe it'll jog Nana's memory)!

I think Gracie can enjoy reading the books without having an actual AG doll. There are also some DVDs of the stories. We've seen "Felicity". JBelle really enjoyed it.
