Today's the day~Gracie's date with Daddy! She was very excited! I think they were headed out to eat for lunch and then to Fort Discovery, a science museum in a nearby town. Chris & I had discussed many different options, and I think this is what he decided. I think Gracie had decided on Zaxby's for lunch. After all, you get a Rice Krispie treat with your grilled cheese kids' meal. What else could she ask for from a restaurant?!? Here are some pics to record the beginning of the date.
Gracie waiting for the knock on the door. (We made it official and had him come to the door to get her.
She was excited opening the door.
Posing before they leave.
Katie was not happy that they were leaving without her!
On their way!

we used to have special daddy dates too -- he took me to breakfast once a week (once i started school) and picked my sister up on a different day from mdo for a slurpee treat. once we were both in school, we alternated weeks with him for breakfast. then mom got in on the game and we alternated breakfasts out with each parent each week.
what fun memories - i know that gracie will treasure this special time with her daddy/
Jacinda,
I found your blog through someone else's. How sweet this daddy date is! I especially love the girls' expressions! Gracie's excitement and Katie's despair. I also have girls so this is a familiar scene.
Jenni - great ideas! We may use them.
This is soooo sweet!
Chris is teaching her now the proper way a man should treat her--and she's not likely to forget.
Did Gracie not have school today?
Nope, no school today. Teacher workday!
Perfect!
That is darling! You can see it on her face how proud she was to be going. I take the boys on dates and make them pay (I give them the money), open the doors for me, etc. I want them to know the old-fashioned way to treat a girl on a date. Poor LIttle Katie Boo!
Love the pictures. I think the one of Katie so upset is just priceless! She will get her due when it is her turn. Hopefully you did something fun to make it up to her in a way! I guess I need to read up on some ideas like this....I don't know that we will allow dating in the common sense of the word, so I don't know if we should do the dating thing with Daddy, or maybe do it, but call it something else? I have been meaning to read up on this anyway, so maybe this is my push to do it.
That is just precious. The hubby took the middle girl "out for ice cream" when he came home. Due to our lovely military, he hadn't been home in over a month. She got to take all her school papers to show him and they had the best time. She still talks about it! It's the stuff like this that kids never forget. There's nothing like a good memory. Good job, Mom and Dad!
Just wanted to pop over. I don't have time to leave a huge comment. But I wanted to say I appreciate your thoughts and ideas. You sound like a devoted mother and from reading the post your husband a devoted father. I appreciated your questions and the chance to explain my thoughts a little better. Thanks for asking.
Jacinda, I hope my leaving a comment didn't cause you to delete Jetty Betty's comments. Disagreement is part of life and part of the blogosphere. I can accept that. It comes with putting your opinions out there.
Blessings,
Spunky
I'm busted, Spunky! :-) I give you much credit for pointing out to me what I'd done. I simply didn't want to hurt your feelings. I respect you very much for being so up front with me!
WOW--Spunky posted on your blog--how I would love for her to comment on mine!!!
No offense taken Jacinda. Thanks for trying to protect my feelings. Enjoy your daughter. They grow up so quickly.
